Brown Butter Blondies

MAKING BROWN BUTTER BLONDIES

Brown buttered anything is quite the treat. Just the name alone of this dessert – Brown Butter Blondies – sounds sinfully delicious.

After making these blondies, I’d have to attest that the brown butter component is definitely a bonus and much needed. I don’t often think to make blondies since the typical brownie always comes to mind; however, this recipe was a nice change and the brown butter ribbon in the center switches up the overall blondie experience with its gooey center.

Here’s how to make these Brown Butter Blondies:

Step 1: Toast Pecans

Super Bowl Cupcakes

Super Bowl Cupcakes

Did you watch the Super Bowl?

Even though my city’s team wasn’t in the Super Bowl, I still had fun watching the game, all of the commercials and, of course, the FOOD!

I saw this Super Bowl dessert recipe for Pull Apart Touchdown Cupcakes and just had to make it/them! This recipe was a lot of fun – I definitely reached out to some of my boyfriend’s friends to help me with a play-by-play option to set-up all of the players (Sour Patch Kids) on the field (cupcake valley). After all, I wanted it to be as “authentic” as a Super Bowl dessert has the potential to be!

What recipes did you make or do you make for watching sports?

Cheers!

Pumpkin Whoopie Pies

I totally cracked a smile and a slight giggle upon hearing the name of this pie-cake concoction the first time (and, yes, I might have been acting immature). However, apparently the history and naming of the Whoopie Pie is a hotly contested topic. Depending on where you live, you may or may not have heard of this esteemed dessert. But, I do guarantee that you have eaten it at some point in your life or had something very similar.

In my opinion, the Whoopie Pie is less of a “pie” and more of a cake-like sandwich with the frosting diverted to the center instead of on-top. But, the key to making these different is the filling and the type of which you decide to make.

Amongst the many different varieties of Whoopie Pie (chocolate, red velvet, vanilla, etc.), I decided to make Pumpkin Whoopie Pies to spin some festivity into a normal Sunday.

Step 1:  Mix Dry Ingredients

Step 2: Combine With Wet Ingredients

Step 3: Form Rounded Patties and Bake

Step 4: Cream Butter and Cream Cheese

Step 5: Add Bourbon, Vanilla and
Powdered Sugar; Chill

Step 6: Assemble and Eat!

The filling used in this recipe is surprisingly lighter in nature and left us all wanting more (as I was told I needed to be more generous in my dousing of filling for these next time!). I’d like to make these again just for the fact that they are incredibly easy, delicious and make a great treat that is just a bit different than an average piece of cake.

Can I get a “whoop whoop” for Whoopie Pies?

Cheers!

Halloween Cupcakes Part 2: Tombstone Cupcakes

I am absolutely smitten with the idea of cupcakes (especially mini-cupcakes). Cupcakes are the perfect alternative to a heaping piece of cake and are so easy to bring to a party or hand out for one’s birthday. Plus, it’s easy to design each cupcake differently or use different colors of frosting. Even though I love them, I often wish they were just a bit smaller. My next baking investment will definitely result in the purchase of a mini-cupcake tin.

Although I already made Halloween-themed cupcakes as seen in this post, I absolutely love Halloween and figured I’d jump at the chance to make cupcakes again. These are pretty simple; however, beware (so Halloween appropriate) of the green food dye used in this concoction. You wouldn’t want to get it on your clothes!

Step 1: Make Chocolate Cupcakes
and Let Cool

Step 2: Use Black Gel To Write
“R.I.P” on Milano Cookies

Step 3: Combine Green Food Dye and Coconut

Step 4: Stick Knife Into Cupcake
To Make a Pocket; Frost Cupcakes

Step 5: Place Coconut on Top
of Frosting, then Put Cookies
Into the Pocket; Serve and Enjoy!

Now that I’ve made these cupcakes, I need to get to the “real” part of Halloween: picking out a costume!

Cheers!
